CN Green Roof Asia has successfully commissioned a 10 MWp commercial and industrial rooftop solar project for PT Industri Karet Deli (IKD) in Medan, North Sumatra, Indonesia – marking a significant milestone in the deployment of on-site renewable energy solutions for the country’s manufacturing sector.

The solar system supplies clean electricity directly to IKD’s production facilities, supporting the company’s efforts to improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions. Once fully operational, the system is expected to produce approximately 12 GWh of renewable electricity annually, avoiding roughly 8,900 tonnes of CO₂ emissions per year.

This project represents one of the largest industrial rooftop solar installations in the region to date, reinforcing the company’s commitment to accelerating clean energy adoption across Southeast Asia.

Efficient Delivery with Zero Operational Disruption

The project achieved commercial operation within approximately 12 months, with installation and integration work carefully coordinated to maintain operational continuity for our client. This reflects Green Roof Asia’s ability to deliver commercial and industrial rooftop solar systems efficiently, while integrating them into active manufacturing environments.

Environmental Impact

The system delivers significant environmental benefits, contributing to Indonesia’s energy transition and client decarbonization goals:

•  12 GWh/year of renewable electricity generated
•  8,900 tCO₂ avoided annually, equivalent to planting 147,344 trees each year

Beyond energy cost savings, this project supports the client’s sustainability objectives and enhances brand competitiveness in global supply chains. This is particularly relevant for export-oriented manufacturers such as IKD, which supplies rubber products to more than 50 countries across five continents, where sustainability standards and low-carbon production practices are becoming increasingly important.

Their presence underscored the importance of continued collaboration of public–private sectors in advancing Indonesia’s clean energy transition.
