Groundbreaking of 22.7MW Solana Solar Beta Project in Bataan, Philippines

On April 11, 2025, CN Green Roof Asia (CNGRA) held the groundbreaking ceremony for a significant 22.785 megawatt-peak (MWp) solar power project in Hermosa, Bataan. Developed by Solana Solar Beta Inc, this project marks a critical move toward enhancing renewable energy in the Philippines.
“Today’s groundbreaking is not just about building a solar facility; it’s about creating long-term value for people, planet, and progress,” said Steve Rawles, Chief Operating Officer of CNGRA. “We’re proud to bring our global expertise to the Philippines and help accelerate its clean energy goals.”
CNGRA CEO Rob Santler also highlighted the importance of collaboration in realizing the project’s potential. “This project is a testament to what strong partnerships can achieve. Together with our local collaborators, we’re building a more sustainable energy ecosystem that benefits communities now and for generations to come,” he said.
Representatives from Bataan Local Government Unit (LGU) – including Bataan Governor Jose Enrique “Joet” Garcia, Office of the Hermosa Bataan Mayor Antonio Joseph “Jopet” Inton –shared the sentiment on the project’s meaningful impact on the local economy and environment. Moreover, the officials from PENELCO (Peninsula Electric Cooperative, Inc.) – General Manager Ms. Ellaine De Guzman – highlighted its role in bolstering energy security and ensuring a resilient power grid.


Developed in alignment with the Government’s national environmental and social requirements, as well as the best global practices in the solar industry, the Hermosa solar project is honoured to deliver the following positive contributions to the local community and sustainability.
- 32.8 GWh/year of clean energy
- 24,947 people/year to be served
- 100 construction jobs and 40 O&M jobs created
- 14,053 tons of CO₂ emissions avoided annually
This project represents another significant stride by CN Green Roof Asia in advancing our climate and sustainability commitment.
