Powering the future of energy beyond infrastructure

With a shared ambition to contribute to a stronger renewable energy ecosystem, Green Roof Indonesia, in partnership with Hoshizora Foundation, is launching the Green Roof University Scholarship Program in 2026.

This initiative is grounded from a clear and urgent need. From recent community needs assessments and consultations conducted with Hoshizora Foundation, an insight has emerged: many talented female students in Indonesia face significant financial and geographic barriers to accessing higher education, particularly in STEM fields. These challenges are especially critical, in the context of the growing demand for technical talent to support Indonesia’s energy transition.

In response, the Green Roof University Scholarship Program is developed to empower female students from low-income and vulnerable households across Indonesia to access STEM education. The program will support 10 students in undertaking degrees at top universities – Universitas Indonesia, Institut Teknologi Bandung, and Universitas Gadjah Mada – in majors aligned with the renewable energy sector, including Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Occupational Health and Safety.

Programme’s approach

Green Roof’s role in this program extends further than financial support. The company brings a strategic approach by aligning the scholarship with the needs of the renewable energy sector, helping ensure that beneficiaries gain not only academic knowledge but also are equipped with relevant skills and exposure to succeed in the field.

The program incorporates mentoring, capacity-building sessions, and renewable energy-related content throughout the four-year journey. In addition, mentoring and alumni engagement ensures long-term impact and continuity. This approach transforms the initiative from a traditional scholarship into a supporting system for future professionals who can contribute to the green economy.

Building future capabilities

While this is not a physical energy project measured in “kWp” capacity, the initiative contributes to supporting the talents who will drive the transition forwards. It aims to strengthen the foundation for Indonesia’s renewable energy future, as a meaningful part of broader ESG and community development efforts.

More broadly, it reinforces Green Roof’s long-term commitment to the renewable energy sector through initiatives that extend beyond project development, towards enabling people, strengthening communities, and supporting long-term industry growth.
